Hagily

Project Type : Professional project

Software Used : Unreal Engine 4 / Unity 3D / Blender

Language Used : Blueprints / C#

Primary Role(s) : Designer / Developer / 3D Modeler

NDA : This project is subject to an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) no client names or confidential information will be disclosed.

Introduction :
At Axeal, I contributed to the design of a digital twin, an application representing a tangible system via Unity 3D or Unreal Engine, focused on predictive maintenance in industrial facilities, such as nuclear power plants.

Project Context :

To prevent blockages of the canes in radioactive material tanks, the digital twin detects these obstructions, signaling the technician to intervene, optimizing performance, and reducing risks.

Project Objective:
Hagily, a predictive maintenance decision support tool, performs non-destructive control of clogging phenomena, reducing production downtime by 35% to 45%, with total control of the data valorization chain up to displaying indicators on a 3D platform.

Project Description :

Organization : In collaboration with a mechanical engineer from Axeal, we developed the application, aiming for playfulness and instruction, in a "serious game" manner, with insights from the industrial environment.

Modeling : A 3D model of the installation, including the tank and the canes, was created in Blender, based on photos of the client's factory, then integrated into Unity 3D. After polygon optimizations, adding the texture layer with "unwrap map," the representation of required elements (clogging rates, situations, etc.) was ensured.

Issues Encountered and Solutions :

Optimization, scenario, and deployment posed a challenge. A thorough understanding of industrial phenomena was necessary. Scenario adjustments followed the client's needs, with the intention to maintain a playful aspect. Introducing video game technologies into an unfamiliar sector required demonstrations to illustrate the benefits.

Conclusion :
This project allowed me to evolve in various skill domains (management, modeling, development, design) and to optimize the anticipation of client needs. Integrating video game principles into the industry was a formative experience, especially for novice clients. Considering these aspects was essential in preparing the communication.
