Nuclear Wall

Project Type : Personal / University project

Software Used : Unity 3D

Language Used : C#

Primary Role(s) : Game Designer

As a Game Designer on the "Nuclear Wall" project, I made a significant contribution to the creation of an innovative "brick-breaker" game. During my first year at ICAN, this experience marked my entry into video game development, allowing me to apply my knowledge of game design to create a unique experience.

My main objective was to design simple and intuitive gameplay mechanics, combined with dynamic and stressful gameplay. We introduced an element of predominant darkness in the game window to establish an oppressive atmosphere, adding a layer of anxiety to the experience. Player reflection was essential to optimize each action while navigating this captivating universe.

The element of chance we integrated into the game aimed to maintain a level of surprise and replayability. We wanted to avoid predictability to offer players multiple choices, thus reinforcing the strategic aspect of the game.

Regarding gameplay, we borrowed elements from the game Tetris, focusing on organizing and regulating a constantly saturated system. Destroying blocks by matching colors with the avatar was the key to success, requiring the player to have sharp memory, precision, tactics, measurement, and observation skills.

During this first year, we also highlighted the mental skills required by the player. Memory to recall the position of blocks, precision to avoid the appearance of additional blocks, tactics to optimize the arrangement of blocks, measurement for precise control of the avatar, and observation essential in constant darkness.

The "Nuclear Wall" project was a true learning adventure, allowing me to dive into the world of game design and explore the various facets of video game development. Collaboration within the team and the opportunity to be involved in creating video montages enhanced my understanding of the creative potential inherent in the art of video games. I am proud to have contributed to the realization of this challenging and entertaining project.
